Ingredients
- 2 ounces gin
- 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- 5 basil leaves
Direction
- Muddle the basil leaves and the simple syrup in the cocktail shaker. Add the other ingredients and some ice, shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Double-strain (using both the Hawthorne and fine-mesh strainer) the shaker contents into a chilled cocktail or coupe glass.
- It keeps the leaf looking pretty but releases wonderful aromatic oils that enhance the flavor of the drink. Gently lay the basil on top of the drink, letting it float on the foam.
