Persimmon Ginger Gin Fizz

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces gin (Hendrick’s preferred for its great floral taste)
  • 3/4ounce persimmon simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ginger beer, to top
  • Orange bitters, to finish
  • Persimmon and star anise, to finish

Simple Syrup Ingredients and Direction

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 persimmon, slice
  • Boil all ingredients for 4-5 minutes in small pot over medium heat
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain into small bottle using the fine mesh strainer

Direction

  1. Combine gin, persimmon simple syrup, egg white, and freshly squeezed lemon juice in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Dry shake for 10 seconds. Remove the lid, add ice and shake again for an additional 10 - 15 seconds.
  3. Double-strain (using both the Hawthorne and fine-mesh strainer) the shaker contents into the cocktail glass. Finish with a splash of ginger beer and a few dashes of bitters.

  • Sliced persimmon
  • Star anise
